Life at sea (Celebrity Cruises)

Our first evening a beautiful “romance package” was brought to our stateroom, courtesy of Simen from the Celebrity office in Oslo – thanks so much, we highly appreciated it.
The package consisted of bubbles, chocolate dipped strawberries and rose petals….the later reminded us on our wedding in Kenya where we were showered in rosepetals 🙂

Our cruise started Saturday afternoon from Miami and today afternoon, 2 days later, we’ll be arriving in the town of San Juan in Puerto Rico, which will be our first stop.

Was a bit worried we might be bored just being on the ship….but not at all.
Life is good here. Today I slept until 8.30, which means my jetlag is gone….been wide awake at 4 am previous days so a lot better now ?.
There are several breakfast restaurants and roomservice 24 hrs. So far, we have been ordering breakfast to the room and sitting outside on the balcony watching the sea – enjoying your morning coffee and breakast outside is pure bliss… Yesterday we went for a full, unhealthy breakfast with way too much food. Today I had less than half, which was more than enough and feel more energetic, unlike yesterday wher as I was uncomfortably full most of the day….. ?. I know, so typical me!
The atmosphere on board is very international amongst passengers as well as staff.
Everybody is very friendly and the staff really knows how to balance the fine line between just about perfect and too much.
Apart from all the restaurants where you can eat delicious food “for free”, there are also about 6-7 “specialty restaurants” with a covercharge of about 100 usd.
Yesterday we tried one of them, Qsine, an experience soooooooo amaaazing and special that it deserves a blog post on its’ own. It was amongst the best dinners I ever had, anywhere.
We also booked a table in the outside grillrestaurant on the lawn of the top deck on our last evening. Might consider Qsine again as well….
The ship has a beautiful fitness area with treadmills along the panorama windows towards the sea and of course the view is stunning. However, since we do have a bit of wind, I can’t run (makes me really dizzy when the treadmill kind of moves back and forth) so I do power walking on it instead.
Even though the ship moves just a bit, I’m not even a bit close to feel seasick, phew ?.
There’s a show in the theatre every night and yesterday we watched the late one at 10.45 pm, was really good and the theme was Broadway musicals. A great mixture of all the big numbers.

Wi-fi on the ship is not too fast and not too cheap either….100 usd. for 3,5 hrs. so am trying to limit myself as much as possible and am somehow very proud to inform you that I haven’t checked my jobmail – at all ?.
To use the mobile is also slightly expensive, 48,- kr./minute (8 usd) to make/receive calls and 8 kr./sms. Sms’s will be replied and sent while ashore.

Now, we’re looking forward to our visit in San Juan and our afternoon excursion where we’ll be visiting the old and new part of the city.
Before entering new adventures, we’ll make sure to choose a good place on the ship for lunch and maybe a visit to the spa…..

Life is good! Maisha ni sawa!

One Response so far.
