A Miami favorite – MONDRIAN South Beach
We always try to escape Scandinavia during the month of November…
This year we spent our November holiday in Miami, followed by another great Celebrity cruise.
South Beach is our favourite place to stay in Miami and this time around we wanted to stay on the bay side and booked MONDRIAN South Beach, already in February. In good time for once….
The hotel is located right on the bay, just around 11th. Street.

Before booking the hotel, we read several reviews on many different websites and looked at pics and was very excited to stay here due to the good reviews.
After booking it, I e-mailed the hotel and kindly asked them to add a huge wish regarding a room on a high floor (Richard Gere and I both know that the top floor(s) just ar the best…!) Just minutes after, I received a reply from Ellis, the hotel’s “Experience Manager” (love the title!) saying that the wish had been noted and an up-grade already flagged due to our Anniversary.
I almost always write hotels reg. wishes but never ever received a reply this fast and with such a personal servicetouch to it all.
I also had some few questions (those of you who knows me well…..believe it or not… 🙂 and I was introduced to the hotel’s Star Concierge, Richard. Mails were sent and replies returned almost immediately. This was the case every single time I wrote so you can imagine that the expectations were quite high when we finally got to the hotel, 9 months later!
A lovely gesture and a warm welcome. |
We arrived late in the evening and upon check-in we were given a very nice up-grade as we were allocated a “Bay-view one bedroom suite with balcony“. It was absolutely stunning!
A very big, spacious room and despite the fact that it was dark when we arrived, you could imagine just how much sunlight that would fill the room the next day. When you live in a country where it’s dark most of the time – sunlight means the world!!!
There was also a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, coffee machine and more things that I can’t remember….am not really a kitchen or a cooking person… 🙂
The bed was big, filled with lots of pillows and very, very comfortable and with soft bedlinen of very high quality. Slept like a princess throughout.

The girlie corner 🙂 |
I LOOOOOVED the bathroom…apart from the fact that it was vey well disposed….The shower….it was just soooooo nice and beautiful…..as the shower head had been put inside a chandelier…. Absolutely loved it! It was so me :0))
How can you not love this shower? |
However, am saving the best part….the best part was without any doubt the balcony and the gorgeous and amaaaaazing view of Biscayne Bay…. It looked beautiful at sunrise (yup, saw it due to jetlag…), during the day, in the afternoon and at sunset….The light, the colours, the water…..Simply breathtaking!
Goodmorning Miami!!! |
I can highly recommend the hotel and when so, the balcony facing the bay is A MUST. Period.
If I had the time…. I could sit there for hours….day and night.
The effect this view has on you cannot be described in words, simply breathtaking.
The cosy pool area – as seen from the balcony. |
The hotel staff that we met from various hotel departments were all very, very friendly and made you feel very welcome at all times.
Front office staff extremely service minded and helpful – definitely on my top 3 list of front office service worldwide.
The location of the hotel is also good.
There are several restaurants nearby, as well as the organic supermarket “WHOLE FOODS” and a Walgreens just around the corner.
A kilometer towards east on 11th. Street is “11th. Street Diner” in case you want to have that traditional, American diner experience.
I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Miami.
I loved the hotel and will definitely be back – hopefully soon because I keep dreaming about that view.
But dreams are good, right? Especially when you know they’ll eventually become true.
